Sailor Mercury

Ami Mizuno is very studious and brainy, the most intelligent student in Usagi's school, and according to the crybaby, the smartest girl in Japan. Ami is one of Usagi's classmates, obviously.

The genius girl is introduced in episode 8. In the same episode, Usagi and Luna think that she works for the Dark Kingdom and they come to punish her, but then the true youma appears. The monster wants to steal Ami's brain, but it isn't able to do so. The sign of Mercury appears on the girl's forehead, Luna realizes that she had sensed strange energy because Ami is a Sailor Soldier. The cat throws Mercury's transformation stick and Ami becomes Sailor Mercury, the Soldier of water and intelligence, by yelling out "Mercury Power! Make-up!". Then she uses her first attack called "Shabon Spray!", confuses the youma, letting Sailor Moon destroy it.

Ami's parents are divorced. She lives with her mother, who is a famous and rich doctor, in an extremely rich apartment. The smart girl highly respects her mother and she dreams to become a doctor one day.

Ami likes swimming, studing, playing chess, and computers. She of course is very good at Maths too. Her great calculating skills are very useful in a battle with monsters. Because of Ami's cleverness, Luna gives the smart girl a mini super computer in episode 9. This small gadget is extremely useful. Sailor Mercury's favourite food are sandwiches because she can eat them while she is studyng, as she says in "Ami-chan's First Love" special. Ami hasn't got many friends, unlike Usagi, therefore, she's afraid of the way the other people see her.

In the third season Ami is obsess with the idea to remind Usagi and the others that the exams are very important, and in order to pass them and enter high school, they have to study. The girl always brings a book to study, no matter where she is, and it's rumored that she has an IQ of 300. Ami is afraid of love letters and the SuperS special "Ami-chan's First Love" is dedicated the Soldier of water, or rather Ami Mizuno. Ami's "boyfriend" is Urawa-kun, unfortunately he was showed in only two episodes. The genius is too shy to admit the fact that there are feelings between them.

As a Sailor Soldier, Ami has a different way of fighting. Instead jumping into battle, Sailor Mercury first analyses her enemy. The soldier of intelligence isn't weak, but her attacks aren't the strongest, too. She, however, is an important part of the Sailor Team and without her, the warriors would not have been able to beat most monsters. Sailor Mercury is protected by the planet Mercury, which gives her the powers of water and ice. Her attacks are mostly defensive.

Powers Mercury Power! Make-up! - Ami's first transformation using the pen Luna gave her. First used in episode 8. This power is used during the first arc of Sailor Moon R, too.
Shabon Spray! - This is Sailor Mercury's first attack, which was used for first time in episode 8. Mercury releases a lot of bubbles which create a fog. The enemy is confused and the other Soldiers can attack.
Double Shabon Spray! - This attack was only used once, and it's the power-uped version of "Shabon Spray".
Mercury Star Power! Make-up! - Ami's second transformation phrase. It's used during the second arc Sailor Moon R, the whole S season and till SuperS episode 151.
Shabon Spray Freezing! - Sailor Mercury's rare attack which in fact is the improved version of "Shabon Spray". It was used twice.
Shine Aqua Illiusion! - This is Sailor Mercury's main attack during the second arc of Sailor Moon R, the whole S season and till SuperS episode 151. Mercury targets a large wave of water against her enemies.
Mercury Crystal Power! Make-up! - Ami's third transformation phrase, which the heroine uses in order to become Super Sailor Mercury.
Mercury Aqua Mirage! - Sailor Mercury uses this attack only once, in the special "Ami-chan's First Love". Compared to the other attacks of Mercury, this one is the most powerful.
Mercury Aqua Rhapsody! - Sailor Mercury's attack in the end of SuperS and during Sailor Stars. Using Mercury Lyre, the Soldier of intelligence lets out a powerful stream of water.
