Sailor Moon R: Promise of the Rose

Usagi introduces Ami, Rei, Makoto, Minako, and herself. They fight evil as the Sailor Soldiers.

Mamoru remembers something from his past: It is early evening. He opens a door, and we see a little boy standing alone on bridge. Mamoru, embarrassed, gives the lonely boy a rose. He takes it and says, "Thanks." He also promises that one day he would do the same for him. "I will return with lots of flowers," he says before vanishing.

Back to the present. In the afternoon, the Sailor Team and Mamoru are spending their free time at the Botanical Gardens. Mamoru is seen thinking about his old friend. At that very moment, he notices his girlfriend, Usagi, standing really close to him and looking at him romantically. She wants a kiss on the lips. He immediately turns around and tries to not kiss the girl right now, because they aren't alone, but it is not possible. He puts his arms on Usagi's shoulders and the lovers are about to kiss. Chibi-Usa is in the building, too, and decides to prevent the kiss. She is angry with the blonde because she is with "her" Mamo-chan again. She is not alone, and actually Ami, Rei, Makoto, and Minako are spying on the lovers with the little girl. Ami says that she did not want to spy on them. Chibi-Usa almost falls on the floor from Rei's shoulders, making a lot of noise.

Mamoru is going to kiss his girlfriend, but he notices something strange about the nearby "flowers". He leaves Usagi, who doesn't notices that. She keeps her eyes closed and waits for Mamoru to kiss her, but nothing happens. As soon as she opens her eyes, she sees a disgusting creature on a plant very near to her face. She gets really scared and runs away. After that she realises that it was a trick of Chibi-Usa and Rei. The Sailor Team laughs, while Usagi is trying to take a breath. Suddenly she remembers about the kiss with Mamoru. "Mamo-chan! Where did he go?" she asks while the other girls are still laughing.

Mamoru is seen in front of the Gardens, looking at the clear sky. At that very moment, rose petals start falling from the sky. Usagi feels happy about the unusual event. The boyfriend of the blonde suddenly notices a strange man in the Gardens. The rose petals stop falling. Usagi comes to her boyfriend and takes his arm, while asking him if he had seen what had happened. The man interrupts the blonde and greets Mamoru. Usagi asks her lover if he knew the another man. "No," he replies, as the other man comes closer and says that he had finally found flowers suitable for Mamoru. The stranger reminds his friend about the promise he gave him - the promise between them. He takes the arm of Usagi's boyfriend and she is shocked. While the men are looking at each other, Usagi says to the stranger that Mamoru is her boyfriend. The man is angry with the girl and tells her to get out of the way as he hits her. The blonde falls on the ground and the Sailor Team and Mamoru run to her, in order to make sure that she is alright.

As the stranger is exiting the Gardens, Rei and Makoto confront him. He ignores them and tells Mamoru that he will make sure he fulfills the promise. Then he vanishes in the sky.

Mamoru talks to himself, "Fiore... can it be..."

In the evening, the girls are at the Hikawa Shirine. The news reporter on the TV says that an asteroid was discovered to be fast approaching the Earth's orbit. Ami turns the TV set off. Luna and Artemis are worried - it's the meteor they had talked about before. The guardian cat of Minako shows his analysis of the meteor. It is 600 meters in diameter which is really large, as Ami notes. She also says that if it had crashed in the Earth, it would have terrible consequences. Artemis tries to calm the girls down, because that is impossible - the asteroid would burn itself before reaching the planet. But that is not the problem - Luna informs the Soldiers that Artemis and she had sensed strange energy from the meteor. While looking at the monitor of Artemis' computer, the girls notice that the asteroid looks more like a gian plant than an enormous rock. At that very moment, Usagi's voice is heard. She is ling on the floor asleep. She wakes up worried because Mamoru and Fiore looked like something more than just friends. The girls discuss their friend's problem and Ami says that Mamoru is popular with man. Then the movie continues with rather funny scenes between the girls talking about what the genius girl had just said.

In a flashback, or while the girl is day dreaming, romantic music is being played. Mamoru shows her a picture of his parents. Usagi asks him if he had felt lonely he hesince he had lived without them. He answers her question - he is not lonely, Usagi is his family now. Since Usagi is Mamoru's family, she promises that she will always protect him. Back to the Shirine, while the Sailor Team members are laughing, Usagi looks at the beautiful night sky.

A flower from the asteroid comes to the Earth and lands near a tree, then becomes a pink flower.

On their way to school next morning, Rei senses something. The others asks her what was wrong. She feels strange aura. The girls run to the place where the evil energy is coming from and they, without Chibi-Usa, who fell on the ground while running, see lots of people ling on the ground with their energy drained. As Minako is staying near a person whose energy has been taken away, the same person holds her foot and tries to pull her away. The girls are attacked by brainwashed people. Ami notices that the planets are controlling those people. Rei uses her ofuda and stops the controlled humans. Ami uses her computer and realises that the source for the evil energy is the pink plant nearby. It suddenly changes into a sort of monster. Chibi-Usa, who is not near the girls, is frightened. Suddenly the flower tries to kill her. Fortunately, she is saved by Usagi. The monster fights Ami, Rei, Makoto, and Minako. Rei goes first, using her ofuda unsuccessfully, thus letting it to start draining Rei and Ami's energy. Minako and Makoto transform. Sailor Venus attacks with "Venus Love-Me Chain", cutting the monster's "arms". Sailor Jupiter attacks with "Sparkling Wide Pressure" to pull the monster away. Luna and Artemis run to Ami and Rei and ask them if they were okay.

The monster lands nearby and revives, since Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus' attacks were not successful and didn't do much damage. Rei and Ami immediately transform. Sailor Mars uses "Fire Soul" without causing any damage. Sailor Jupiter goes next, using "Supreme Thunder".

Chibi-Usa tries to wake Usagi up. The blonde transforms to helps her friends as Sailor Moon. As she is yelling out her transformation phrase, Chibi-Usa interrupts her and thanks her for saving her and wishes her good luck.

The Sailor Team is still battling the monster without any success. It catches the Soldiers and starts draining their energies. Suddenly, the Moon Tiara stops it and lets the girls go. Then Sailor Moon introduces herself. The monster attacks the Soldier, but Sailor Mercury protects her friend with "Shine Aqua Illusion". It freezes the enemy, and Sailor Moon starts performing her attack. Suddenly, the ice is broken by the powerful entity, but it eventually disappears.

Some pink mist appears. Then the strange man from before reappears. He recognises the Soldiers' true identities. He then transforms into his real, alien form. Fiore also says that their experiment was successful. The guardian cats wonder why he said "our experiment", not "my experiment". At the same time, on his mantle, the flower or actually the monster appears. Luna says that it is a Kisenian flower. Fiore tells the flower that this planet would make his flower bloom beautifully. But before that happens, they have to get rid of the people who get in their way. The alien blasts Ami and Rei, Minako, and finally Makoto, who tries to fight him.

Sailor Moon is defenseless, and Fiore takes out his long black nails, ready to kill her, because she, according to him, had deceived Mamoru. He attacks, but is stopped by Tuxedo Mask. As soon as the alien sees the red rose, Fiore guesses Tuxedo Mask's identity - he is Mamoru. They talk for a while and Sailor Moon's lover asks his old friend to stop the fight if he really believed in their friendship. However, the Kisenian flower takes control over the alien and he says once again that the girl was deceiving him. The alien attacks and hits his friend instead of Sailor Moon. Completely shocked, he takes Tuxedo Mask away to revive him by putting him in a crystal filled with fluid.

On the Earth, Artemis supposes that Fiore is possessed by the Kisenian flower. Sailor Mercury, meanwhile, has analysed a piece of the meteor and says that it had started approaching the planet. The Sailor Soldiers cheer Sailor Moon, and they all deceide that they have to teleport to the asteroid. They do so while Chibi-Usa, Luna, and Artemis stay on the Earth.

While the Sailor Soldiers are flying on the meteor in an energy sphere, they are beeing attacked by the Kisenian flower. The sphere explodes, leaving our heroines un-protected. While Sailor Mercury is analysing the meteor, she sees Mamoru! Sailor Moon starts running to him, but Jupiter stops her - it might be a trap. At that very moment, Fiore's voice is heard. He tells them not to worry because he would have never used his friend as a trap. Then he appears in front of the Soldiers. They confront him and tell him that they would not let him conquer their planet. Mars tries to attack the alien. Then Ami realises that they are surrounded by flower monsters. Sailor Venus looks at the ground covered with flowers... can each of those flowers be a monster? Yes. The Soldiers are attacked, and the Inners protect Sailor Moon with their attacks. It's Moon's turn - she uses "Moon Princess Halation" against the flowers. Then the evil creatures gather and form a big monster. Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, and Venus are caught, while Sailor Moon is pushed by Mars and is safe.

She starts crying for her friends. Fiore calls her coward. The Soldier takes her Rod and yells her attack phrase out. But before she gets a chance to attack, the alien shows her the other Soldiers. If she attacks, he will kill them. In spite of the fact that the four Soldiers tell her leader to attack, she refuses to do so. The alien is shocked of her kindness, and frees the girls. The Kisenian flowers tells him to not be fooled - Sailor Moon is tricking him, she wants to steal Mamoru away from him, according to the flower.

It also lends him its powers and orders him to defeat Sailor Moon. Meanwhile, Tuxedo Mask frees himself. Fiore proceeds to attack the Soldier and starts draining her energy. He tells Moon that Mamoru and he were very lonely. The Inner Soldiers also remember how lonely they were before meeting Usagi. Fiore says that they all are fooled by the girl. He is planning to kill her, but Tuxedo Mask defends her. The rose he threw against Fiore almost kills the alien. He feels lonely - even his friend threw a rose against him. The Earth has been saved, says Ami, but it isn't - it has changed its course but it will fall on the planet.

Sailor Moon cannot let that happen. She is going to use the Mystic Silver Crystal. Fiore puts his hand on it because he wants its power. That, however, doesn't stop the Soldier. She even offers her friendship to Fiore. Then, a flashback begins. Little Usagi gives Mamoru a rose and promises that she will be Mamoru's sister. Then the alien realises that the flower Mamoru give him was from Usagi. Then the alien frees from the Kisenian flower's control and it is destroyed. The meteor, however, is going to hit the Earth.

Sailor Moon becomes Princess Serenity. Ami, Rei, Makoto, Minako, and Mamoru are worried - if Serenity uses her Crystal, she will die. She asks the Crystal to lend her its power, in order to save everyone. At that moment, Prince Endymion puts his hand on Serenity's shoulder. He will help her. So the girls do. Each of them remembers a happy moment with Usagi. The Crystal is overpowered and it breaks.

On the roof of Tsukino's house, Luna, Artemis, and Chibi-Usa are talking. Chibi-Usa is sure that Usagi will protect everyone.

On the meteor, the Soldiers and Mamoru are trying to wake Sailor Moon up. The girls start crying because they think their friend is not alive. While Tuxedo Mask is holding his girlfriend, Fiore appears and says thanks - Moon and he had saved him. He fulfills his promise. The alien gives his friend a flower of life, containg the sum of his energy. The nectar of the flower is powerful enough to revive Sailor Moon. As he smells the flower, he is seen kissing his lover. The girl is back to life, and the Soldiers and Tuxedo Mask return to their home planet.
