Season Summaries

Sailor Moon Season ( episodes 1 - 46 )
Often called Sailor Moon Classic or Original season, the first part of the Sailor Moon series focuses on the adventures of the 8th grade schoolgirl Usagi Tsukino. She is a crybaby and clutz, a normal 14-year-old girl who likes shopping, sleeping, and hates Maths and tests. One morning, late as always and on her way to school, Usagi saves a strange black cat from three children. Later in the same day and episode, we see Usagi ling on her bed, when the same cat enters the girl's room. She has the ability to talk and introduces herself as Luna from the Moon Kingdom. The cat gives Usagi a transformation brooch and turns the normal girl into the defender of love and justice, the pretty sailor-suitted Soldier, Sailor Moon.

Sailor Moon fights evil gang called the Dark Kingdom, which consists of Queen Metallia (the leader), Queen Beryl (semi-leader), and the four generals (Jadeite, Nephrite, Zoicite, and Kunzite). They send youma (monsters) to steal human energy, so that they can revive Queen Metallia.

Until episode 8, Sailor Moon fights against the youma with the only help of Luna, but later in the storyline new Sailor Senshi are introduced. They are, in order of appearance: Ami Mizuno (Sailor Mercury), Rei Hino (Sailor Mars), Makoto Kino (Sailor Jupiter), and Minako Aino (Sailor Venus), prevously known as Sailor V. Mamoru Chiba (Tuxedo Mask) is also an ally of the Soldiers, and he often saves them from trouble by stopping the monster with a red rose.

The need of huge amount of energy makes Queen Beryl and her generals search for the Mystic Silver Crystal (Ginzuishou) because it can also revive the villians' leader, Queen Metallia. The crystal appears only after the Rainbow Crystals are combined, therefore the generals search for them, too. Fortunately, after many battles, Sailor Moon manages to combine the Crystals and the Ginzuishou appears, letting the Soldier revive possessed people with "Moon Healing Escalation" and to later destroy the Dark Kingdom.

Eventually, Usagi and Mamoru find out each other true identities while beeing trapped by Zoicite.

During the second half of the season, Mamoru Chiba is brainwashed by Beryl, who is actually in love with him, making him evil Prince Endymion. He fights against the Soldiers, till episode 46, when he almost kills Sailor Moon. She uses her Tiara and stops him, later he gains his past memories back and "dies", as well as Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, and Sailor Venus.

In episode 46, Sailor Moon becomes Princess Serenity and asks her friends, the Sailor Soldiers, to help her defeat Queen Beryl. The five Soldiers join their powers and the power of the Mystic Silver Crystals destroys the Dark Kingdom. Usagi, Mamoru, Ami, Rei, Makoto, and Minako lose their memories as defenders of the world and become normal peoples again for two months.

Sailor Moon R Season ( episodes 47 - 89 )
The second season of Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon R, is divided into two arcs. In the first arc, which consists of episodes 47-59, "R" stays for "return". In the second one, which consists of episodes 60-89, "R" stays for "romance".

In episode 47, Usagi is living her life as a normal girl. When she arrives at school, Miss Haruna introduces two new students - the brother and sister Seijuurou Ginga and Natsumi Ginga. In their flat, there's something like an invisible dimension hole where the Makaiju is hidden. The aliens create monsters called cardians to drain human energy. When it's time to steal energy, Ail shows Ann his tarot cards, then she chooses one, and the male alien transforms it into a monster by playing his magical flute.

Before Usagi goes to bed, she talks with Naru on the phone. Suddenly, the first cardian, Vampir, attacks Sailor Moon's friend. Usagi is really worried about her friend and goes to her house. Naru's mother and her enter Naru's room. The cardian drains the energy of Naru's mother. Artemis and Luna arrive trying to save the girls and to prevent turning Usagi into Sailor Moon again. Unfortunately, that's impossible. Luna uses her crescent moon and Usagi gains her lost memory. She yells out her transformation phrase and becomes a Sailor Soldier again. Eventually, she destroys the monster. Ail and Ann appear and the warrior confronts them, but they just warn her to not get into their way. Thus, Usagi becomes a Soldier again.

In episode 48, Ami, Rei, Makoto, Minako, and Naru are attacked by a cardian. Luna uses her crescent moon again and the Soldiers gain their past memories. They transform and all of them use their attacks, destroying the cardian. However, Mamoru's past memories aren't regained yet.

The rest of the Sailor Team also gets new attacks.

Although they are in love with each other, Ail falls in love with Usagi, and Ann falls in love with Mamoru.

The Soldier also realises that her new classmates are actually villains. Mamoru gains his lost memories. Later, Ann protects Ail from the Makaiju, killing herself and learning what true love is. Sailor Moon heals the Devil Tree, and the aliens leave the Earth happy together.

During the second arc of Sailor Moon R, Chibi-Usa from the 30th century is introduced. The two lovers Usagi and Mamoru are kissing when suddenly a pink-haired kid falls from the sky. Her mission is to find the Mystic Silver Crystal, so that she can save her mother, Neo Queen Serenity from the 30th century. The little girl brainwashes Ikuko, Kenji, and Shingo making them think that she's Usagi's sister.

The villians are called the Black Moon Family, which consists of the Ayakashi Sisters (Cooan, Petz, Beruche, and Karaberas) and Wiseman (the leader), Rubeus, Esmeraude, Saphire, Prince Demando, and Black Lady. They are after Chibi-Usa in order to control Crystal Tokyo. All of the Ayakashi sisters fails at their mission and Sailor Moon heals them one by one with her Moon Cosmic Power.

Chibi-Usa learns the Sailor Team's and Tuxedo Mask's true identities and takes them to the future, where they face Sailor Pluto. She attacks the Soldiers, but Chibi-Usa or Small Lady asks her to stop. She lets them go to through the Time Gate.

In the future, Usagi and Mamoru learn that Chibi-Usa is their child. They also realise that the Black Moon Family comes from the Utopia called Crystal Tokyo. They search for the Mystic Silver Crystal, so that they can live there, but they are beeing manipulated by Wiseman.

Eventually, Wiseman kidnapps Chibi-Usa, brainwashes her and transforms her into Black Lady. She fights against the Senshi.

In episode 88, Sailor Moon transforms into Queen Serenity and helps Black Lady gain her memory becoming Chibi-Usa again. Before the end of the season, Chibi-Usa finds out that she has always had the Crystal. Then Usagi and her combine the two Crystals to defeat Wiseman.

Sailor Moon S Season ( episodes 90 - 127 )
The third saga of the Sailor Moon series is called Sailor Moon Super or Sailor Moon S.

It begins with Rei's strange visions of the Silence. The Silence is what will happen if the three talisman are found and obtained by the enemy.

In episode 90, Usagi faces the new monsters called daimons. She transforms, but she's defeated by the daimon and her powers become useless. The rest of the Sailor Team try to rescue her, but before they get chance to transform, the monster captures them. The Soldiers are eventually saved by the attacks of two new Senshi showed in shadows. They are actually Sailor Neptune (Kaioh Michiru), the Soldier of elegance and ocean, and Sailor Uranus (Haruka Tenoh), the Soldier of grace and sky. They are part of the Outer Sailor Senshi, who also include Sailor Saturn, the Soldier of death and reborn, and Sailor Pluto, the Soldier of time and space.

In episode 91, Usagi gets a new transformation and attack both born from the love between Mamoru and she. Using her new "Moon Cosmic Power! Make-up!" phrase Sailor Moon becomes more powerful, also capable of performing the "Moon Spiral Heart Attack!" which is powerful enough to kill daimons.

Neptune and Uranus are really very dedicated to their mission to find the talismans, preventing the destruction of the world. The new enemy are also after the Talismans, which are actually three heart crystals: Space Sword, Deep Aqua Mirror, and Garnet Orb. Each time Sailor Moon destroys a monster the new Soldiers check the heart crystal, so that they can make sure that it's not a Talisman. They are ready to sacrifice everyone and everything, even each other, in order to complete their mission. Even though they seem protective of Sailor Moon, in the beginning of S, Uranus and Neptune just fight against daimons for the Talismans. They both don't want to mess in Sailor Team's work and usually leave the battle, leaving the Soldiers in trouble.

The new enemies are the Death Busters which consists of the Messiah, Tomoe Souchi, and Witches 5. They are, as already mentioned, after the Talismans. Tomoe makes the daimon eggs, while the Witches take the heart crystals of the targetted people, hoping that it's a Talismans. Witches 5 usually leave the battle with the Sailor Soldiers, calling out a daimon to take care of the warriors.

In episode 109, Usagi is forced to transform in front of Haruka and Michiru. They also transform. Thus the Soldiers reveal their identities to each other.

In episode 111, Setsuna Meioh goes to the chruch where the Soldiers fight against Eudual, and transforms in front of the Soldiers. She then tells everyone that she's the holder of the third Talisman, the Garnet Orb. After the three Talismans are joined, and after Sailor Moon prevents Eudual from obtaining the Holy Grail, she transforms into her power-uped form, Super Sailor Moon. However, this transformation is temporal, until SuperS. The Holy Grail is the chalice that appears after the three Talismans are combined. It's also used by Sailor Moon from episode during the second half of S to temporary transform into her power-uped version.

In episode 112, the Sailor Team goes to a park where Chibi-Usa meets Hotaru Tomoe, Sailor Saturn. The evil Tomoe has "placed" Mistress 9 into her body. In the same episode, the Senshi are having problems with defeating the daimon. Pluto saves them with her "Dead Scream". After that, she tells Sailor Moon to transform into Super Sailor Moon and then she uses her new attack, "Rainbow Moon Heart Ache".

The final battle of Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune against the Death Busters is against Mistress 9. Pluto uses her forbidden attack "Time Stop", sacrificing herself. The Outers try to kill Mistress 9, but Sailor Moon believes that Hotaru is still alive, so she saves the evil lady from "World Shaking" and "Deep Submerge". After Sailor Moon gives the Holy Grail to the villainess, she is "killed" by Pharaoh 90. Thus, Hotaru defeats the evil entity and gets rid of it. She becomes Sailor Saturn and brings Chibi-Moon's heart crystal back to her body, saving her friend. She then fights with Pharoah 90 and Super Sailor Moon helps her. It's defeated by either one of them, but we will never know who actually killed it. Then Hotaru is reborn.

Haruka and Michiru also battle Sailor Moon, so that she can prove them that she's the real Princess. After she defeats them, they apologize and leave.
